Truth be told…

Posted by tggokul on August 3, 2007

I am not proud of myself. When I first heard about the devastating Bridge collapse in Minneapolis, even before I felt bad for the people whose life had been changed, I was more interested in seeing which news channel/Youtube had the video showing the collapse.

And even worse was that most people around the world shared by insensitive curiosity. These are the times when I believe Technology has made us more insensitive. Reality TV was the start of disintegration of culture as we know it and I am ashamed that I too have fallen prey to it.

I can only talk for myself when I say our generation is finding some new lows when it comes to human values.

I reluctantly echo those sentiments…when there was that helicopter crash I think in Arizona where the two news choppers crashed together, I desperately wanted to find footage of the collision! How awful! What is it with this growing morbid curiosity? Why do we wish to watch lives be unmade from the comfort of our cubicle or couch or study?

I don’t know. I can’t explain it. But I’ll probably do it again.
