Gokul Blog — A conversation on VoIP, IMS, Cisco and Just about Anything

Deeper analysis of VoIP

And they lived happily ever after!!!

Posted by tggokul on February 22, 2007

Cisco and Apple have patched up their differences. There is still no news though on what they mean by ‘interoperability’. The article talks about a Linksys device to record podcasts and upload into itunes. Yeah, that might be it, but I think there are playing for bigger stakes.

And somehow I get the feeling the synergy is going to be in the realm of Unified Communications. I am already hearing some news that the next version of iphone ( I mean Apple’s iphone) is going to have VoIP support ( probably a SIP client). That could be possible. Or even crazier, a Cisco Call Manager on a Mac? Cisco latest release , 5.0 , runs on Linux and the next version 6.0 is going to give an option to the user whether he wants Windows/Linux. Would 7.0 give an option of a MAC installation? Nah, i don’t think so either but that would be interesting.

Write to me as to where you see the synergies.
